When asked to predict the Day 1 numbers, commercial veteran Taran Adarsh said, “Fighter will open at Rs. 35 crore more as it is not a holiday and also not the usual masala film.” Raj Bansal, owner of Entertainment Paradise in Jaipur and distributor in northern India, predicted: “I hope Fighter to open between Rs. 36 and rupees. 38 crore, which is very good.”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, rejoiced: “As it is releasing on a non-holiday, therefore, Fighter should open at Rs. 30 crores.” Trade analyst Atul Mohan said: “Fighter will open around Rs. 25 crores.” Meanwhile, Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani cinema in Purnia, Bihar, responded: “Fighter will open at Rs. 25-30 crores. It can jump to Rs. 40-50 crores on the second day if the reports are positive. After all, the film stars such big names.”

Even the other trading experts like Taran Adarsh and Girish Johar believed that Fighter can cross Rs. 50 crores on the second day.

Everyone was of the opinion that if the content is accepted, then Fighter could be Hrithik Roshan's first Rs. 400 Crore Highest Grossing Movie. Taran Adarsh said very hopefully, “Fingers crossed. Hrithik is a dynamic actor. He has shown the versatility of him. Siddharth Anand’s last two films generated huge business.” Raj Bansal, owner of Entertainment Paradise in Jaipur and distributor in North India, disagreed and said, “It could be Rs. 300 crores plus gross.”

Impact of 3D IMAX formats

Many of the biggest Hindi hits of recent times have been released in IMAX format, such as Pathaan, Jawan, Animals etc Fighter is no exception and also has a 3D version. When asked if that would be beneficial, Taran Adarsh responded: “It has its advantages. As far as IMAX goes, it's big screen entertainment (and therefore works well for the movie). But as far as 3D goes, we need to see the movie to determine if it warrants a 3D version. In the past, some movies did not require a 3D version and were nevertheless converted to 3D. Therefore, let us wait. In case of FighterIf they have made the decision to release it in 3D, they will have thought about it.”

Vishek Chauhan agreed and said, “Audiences prefer 3D. If I do a show in 3D and also in 2D, 70% of the audience would prefer the first. Furthermore, 3D means more money and, therefore, even exhibitors prefer this format.”

Atul Mohan disagreed: “I don't think it will benefit much as many people will not be comfortable with the format because it strains their eyes.”

Girish Johar said, “It is more of a premium format offering. Attracts more in the top 10 cities. In tier 2 and 3 cities, I doubt the 3D version will be widely released. Even if it were, the impact might not be huge due to lack of maintenance. Again, it all depends on the movie. If young people and children love it, the film can benefit by 10%.”

Raj Bansal opined, “The only 3D Hindi film that had an added edge was Tanhaji: the anonymous warrior (2020). Otherwise, 3D doesn't help most Hindi films. People mainly prefer 2D. With 3D, you tend to stray from the main story.”
