The much-awaited and hyped Hrithik Roshan – Wrestler starring Deepika Padukone hit the screens last week. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film packed with patriotic drama and promising some high-octane stunts and visuals with aerial action sequences, was one of the most anticipated releases of 2024. Given the crescendo that surrounded the film, the business of Fighter was expected to get off to a good start. However, with lackluster advance bookings, the film's first day of business remained low with just Rs. 24.60 cr. But, on its second day, the movie's business witnessed a massive jump of 67.48% from its Day 1 collections with Rs. 41.20 cr. Unfortunately, after this massive jump in grosses, Fighter has failed to impress at the box office. In fact, the air stock saw a tumultuous 33.01% drop on its third day in a row, with its first Sunday trading seeing a marginal increase.

Now in its fifth day in a row, Fighter has crashed in a big way. Collecting a meager Rs. 7 cr, Fighter appears to have run out of fuel mid-flight, falling below average expectation by a wide margin. If that were enough, to complicate matters further, the Hrithik Roshan – Deepika Padukone starrer has managed to register lower collections than the Om Raut directorial Adipurush, starring Prabhas, which hit the screens last year. In terms of numbers, while Adipurush opened at Rs. 36 cr, the film saw a drop of 76.67% on its first Monday with Rs. 7.70 cr. On the other hand, Fighter came in which started with Rs. 24.60 cr. On day 1 there was a drop of 76.82% with Rs. 7 cr. arriving on its first Monday.

This hard landing at the box office seems to have spilled blood in the water and the trade is now predicting that Fighter's overall business is unlikely to cross Rs. 200 cr. brand. In fact, the few naysayers who believed Fighter was a Rs. 200 cr+ gross are facing a gigantic disaster that is insurmountable. Overall, as things stand, Fighter is likely to end its theatrical run around Rs. 160 – rupees. 170 cr. brand.
