On its opening day, Yodha started with Rs. 4.25 crores at the box office. This is a good start for a film that has been put together on a good scale and has also been promoted aggressively. This was also necessary as in current times it is becoming increasingly difficult to bring a film to the public unless it is an event or a festive premiere. So, it has to be admitted that the filmmakers kept pushing the film relentlessly over the last month so that at least some sort of beginning could happen.

Now it's about what kind of momentum is generated from now on. Since Sidharth Malhotra leads the show as an action hero and Dharma Productions has backed the film, he justifies higher numbers from here. Additionally, the reviews have also been at least decent to good, which is understandable for an action movie like this. Additionally, word of mouth has been encouraging when you look at how the film continues to see increased footfall from the afternoon to evening and then into the evening shows.

On the other hand, the second release of the day was Bastar, starring Adah Sharma. The film comes from the same team that made The Kerala Story last year (producer Vipul Shah, director Sudipto Sen). With a limited theatrical release, the film has also had quite limited collections at Rs. 0.35 lakhs. Despite the genre, theme and release, it was still expected to reach at least 1 crore as that would have given it some sort of starting point. However, now one waits to see if collections double or triple between today and tomorrow, since those would be the minimum expectations for Bastar to last until at least the end of the week.

Note: All collections according to production and distribution sources.
